In April, 77 school children (all of grades 6 and 7) and 9 teachers from Mlevu Primary school met Asenze and Mlevu at Sanctuary 2. These two rhinos have been at sanctuary 2 since September 2024; they have settled in well and have taken their time to get used to people.
The children and teachers loved meeting their new neighbours, whom they help name. They spent time with the Imvelo guides and Cobra scouts, learning about the rhinos, wildlife, the importance of conservation and how to report suspicious people (potential poachers) in the villages. They were treated to a k9 unit agility show by our Cobra scout Smile and trained dog Whisper and enjoyed a few other learning activities.
