Mosi is named after 'mosi oa tunya' - meaning 'the smoke that thunders' - a local way of calling the great Victoria Falls. She is a Bavarian mountain hound and is turning two years old in June.
Mosi came from Namibia when she was just 8 weeks old and has been training with Take Action Zimbabwe (@takeactiontrust) since then. In February 2025, one of our Cobras Community Wildlife Protection scouts Dalitemba joined the Take Action team for dog training.
Mosi's handler Dalitemba, who demonstrated his eagerness to get more involved with our k9 work, has trained with Mosi extensively. Mosi and Dalitemba have created a special bond, promising a great duo to further develop our canine unit. Mosi is smaller than Ragnar and Whisper, our two Belgian Malinois, but her small size and short hair mean that she will likely excel at endurance tracking. So far, she has adapted well to her new home and "colleagues" and Dalitemba is looking forward to continuing to learn and train with her.
We are very grateful to the Take Action Zimbabwe Team for their support!
